The Fair Trade Trio will present a varied program of music including New Zealand composer Natalie Hunt’s Clarinet Quartet featuring guest clarinetist, Bixby Kennedy. Admired for his “suppleness and beauty of tone” (Allan Kozinn, Portland Press Herald) Bixby Kennedy is one of the most versatile clarinetists of his generation. He has performed concerti with the Minnesota Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Bloomington Sinfonietta, and Indiana University Symphony and as a chamber musician throughout the US and Europe. Also featured will be longtime Juilliard professor and local composer Michael White’s Jewish-inspired “Songs of My People” and Schnittke’s String Trio which takes the “Happy Birthday” rhythm on a truly wild musical ride, a fitting note (pun intended!) on which to start off our 5th anniversary concert season.
