Mission

The mission of Living Artist Society (the Society) is to use arts-based programs to promote cultural exchange and to cultivate the creative capacity of communities to achieve positive social and economic impact.

History

The Living Artist Society was born out of the founder’s personal life experience straddling artistic pursuits as a classical pianist and educator while earning a living in the field of data science.

First formed in 2017, Living Artist Society focused on using data and technology to make advanced digital marketing services available to independent performing artists.

The pandemic forced a lengthy hiatus, but the need for support services increased. Direct observation of displaced arts and culture workers in Sleepy Hollow prompted a new project and led to a pivot.

Today, Living Artist Society focuses on sustainability and resiliency issues more broadly providing support services for the arts and culture sector and leveraging Creative Placemaking methods to integrate arts and culture into community development.

Wendy Talio

Founder, Living Artist Society

Wendy Talio has had a multi-faceted career that began as a classical pianist/music educator and organically morphed into the field of data science. An entry level programming position at Reader’s Digest, intended to be the proverbial ‘day gig,’ led to a management position acting as liaison between Marketing and IT departments in the development of a large-scale database project to house the publisher’s customer data. As Director of Consumer Intelligence for Consumer Reports, Wendy held dual roles leading database marketing operations and providing consumer analysis required to support finance, marketing, advocacy, and fundraising activities. Wendy took early retirement to make more space for her artistic interests and turned her attention to utilizing data and technology to connect underserved communities with relevant arts programming. Residing in Cortlandt Manor, NY Wendy is an active volunteer in the community as Chair of the Conservation Advisory Council and resident liaison for the Northern section of Town.

Wendy holds a BM in piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City and a MM in piano performance from Rice University, Shepherd School of Music in Houston, Texas.
